Position Open: Tester and Quality Assurance

EScIS is currently undertaking extensive software development in C# in both web and Windows desktop environments.

A tester is required to assist a team of 2.5 developers and provide the following input:

Software Testing and Debugging: The role will require clarifying requirements in conjunction with the Product Owner and Developers and developing and completing manual functional, unit and regression tests to ensure the software is ready for release within defined time frames.

User Interface Input: The role will include interface testing to ensure users can achieve desired workflows intuitively and easily.

IT Documentation: Familiarity with documents describing software implementation from an IT perspective is desirable. Liason with developers for providing content will be required.

User Documentation: Experience in generating help manual documentation for a scientific / engineering audience is desirable. This documentation will be produced in conjunction with a business expert.

Troubleshooting: The ability to assist with troubleshooting and identifying problems as encountered by users;

Other: The ability to offer complementary skills either in IT (such as liasing with clients IT); or via experience in working with ESdat or other environmental or chemical databases would be an advantage.

The tester should have the following qualifications / skills:

  • Generation of detailed Test Scripts from high level summaries
  • Running manual test scenarios
  • Be able to work at times independently and at times in a team
  • Knowledge in writing SQL queries.
  • Maintain and review documentation including technical details in help files for consistency and completeness against test logic
  • Use of automated testing software to generate and maintain tests is an advantage
  • Strong communication and IT skills
  • Experience working with ESdat, or chemistry, geological, laboratory, medical or similar data or software is required.
  • Formal experience as a Tester is desirable but not necessary for the right candidate.
  • The preferred position is full-time permanent, however fixed duration or part time will be considered for a strong candidate.
